Monday Oct 01, 2018
Monday Oct 01, 2018
God offers us many challenges in our Christian journey, but among the most difficult challenges, is the challenge to love our enemies and love those who do not love us in return. The only way we can accomplish this challenge is when we are able to look past the sins and struggles of others. Just as God loves us before we love Him, He challenges us to love others before they love us.

Monday Sep 24, 2018
Monday Sep 24, 2018
Sometimes we feel that we have reached our limit and can go not one step further, but with encouragement and trust, we can realize our full potential. We may think we have reached our plateau, but God knows our potential better than we know it ourselves. If are willing to put our faith in God’s understanding, then we will be able to go out and gather many others who are in need of Good News. We will be able to brothers many others to the Church. The only thing left is our faith to say to God, “Nevertheless, we will go further.” By trusting God we will reach others for His glory.

What is our Cross?
Monday Sep 17, 2018
Monday Sep 17, 2018
When we hear in the Gospel, “Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me,” we must ask ourselves, what is our cross? We may get lazy in a world of comfort, or we may ignore the advice of the Church, or we may just be tempted by evil. Either way, life has its difficulties which we know to be our cross. But the Cross of Christ, is power to defeat our temptations. It is power to strengthen our desire to deny our own logic and agenda for Christ and His Church.

Sunday Sep 09, 2018
Sunday Sep 09, 2018
In the story of the Jews wandering through the desert, (Numbers 21) we hear of a people who were healed only when they believed God’s promise enough to gaze at the copper serpent of Moses. Christ’s tells us that we must have the same belief in His Cross and His Church in order to be saved and live with Him forever. Just as God gave Moses to lead the people out of slavery, He gave us His Church to lead us to heaven.

The Promise of Truth
Sunday May 27, 2018
Sunday May 27, 2018
On the Feast of Pentecost, the Church recalls the promise of Christ to send the Holy Spirit to guide and protect the Church in all truth. If we believe in Christ and His Holy Spirit, life will flow from our hearts like rivers of living water. Two thousand years ago some chose to deny Christ and trusted their own truth, but Christ is the Truth and the Holy Spirit has guided the Church to maintain this truth. It is a truth we can trust.

The Opportunity to Know God
Sunday May 20, 2018
Sunday May 20, 2018
When we contemplate such horrific instances such as the most recent school shooting by a Greek Orthodox young man, we wonder how such things can happen. Some even turn to blaming the Church for not doing enough to help people in their struggles. The truth is, painfully enough, that people can choose to use their free will to love God or to hate Him. The difference comes down to knowing about God vs actually knowing God. The only cure for our cultural pain is for us take the opportunity to know God, which is only possible in the chalice through Holy Communion.

The Church is a Mother we can Trust
Sunday May 13, 2018
Sunday May 13, 2018
When we look into our mother’s eyes for the first time, we see her love and learn to trust that she is will protect and guide us through life. In the story of the man born blind found in the Gospel of John 9.1-38, God’s healing is revealed in our ability to see and believe in His Truth. Many in the Gospel refused to believe, just as many today work tirelessly to deceive us into not trusting our own eyes, but the Church is a mother we can trust to teach us the truth.

We’re not Alone
Sunday Apr 29, 2018
Sunday Apr 29, 2018
Ever since Adam and Eve, God has known that we cannot find Him by ourselves. We cannot be healed by ourselves. When a man was lying next to the Pool at Bethesda sick for thirty-eight years, he believed he was all alone without anyone to lift him up, but he was never alone. We are not alone. We have God and His Church to lift us up and help us be healed.

Does it really matter if Jesus Died?
Sunday Apr 22, 2018
Sunday Apr 22, 2018
So many Christians believe that Jesus Christ was raised from the dead. In the first few days after His resurrection, so many believed that He had died, they found it impossible to believe He was alive again. After all, He died on the holiest day of the year, in the most important city of His people, in front of the largest crowds. EVERYONE saw that He was dead, and that’s just how God wanted it. Once everyone believed He was dead, then when they saw Him alive again, they would finally believe that He was God.
